Fedora FC5 - 2.6.17.1.287
Followed instructions in fedorafaq to get MP3s enabled in first Noatun
then Jukbox players. Will not play - no error messages just will not
open. Ogg works fine, DVDs play no problem, CDs play no problem just
no MP3s.
The installation via YUM seemed ok - there were error messages related
to mirrors / checksums but YUM seemed to find a mirror it liked after
several tries and installed OK.
Not tried XMMS or M Player yet.
Using ALSA for soundcard, only option that works.
I could convert 28 GBs of MP3s to ogg but that seems extreme and a
waste of disk space.
Any clues appreciated?

What were the yum commands you issued?
Did these
4. Now, install the correct plugin depending on which MP3 player
you want to use:
* For Rhythmbox or Totem:
yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly
* For XMMS:
yum install xmms-mp3
* For KDE MP3 players, like Noatun or Juk:
yum install kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree
Now you should be able to play MP3s in your favorite Fedora MP3
player!
But not the XMMS command as I did not install it.
For xmms it's
# yum install xmms-mp3
If you want to play wma files it's
# yum install xmms-wma

Will have another go later with XMMS
