thanks...my bad
Is there anyway I can change some config file so that when I boot up
and sign on, the nfs mounts happen automatically after the nfs service
is started?

Ok... I have set up nfs and am able to get to my desktop Linux box from
my laptop Linux box. Now I should be able to get and put files on these
nfs mounts and be done with it. But it would be nice if I could get to
my laptop Linux using mounts on my Desktop. The problem I am running
into is this
mount to NFS server 'linuxLaptop' failed: server is down.
Oh.. and by the way.... here's something else weird (to me at least)
# unmount linuxLaptop:/home/bcjtown /etc/mount/bcjtown
/bin/ksh: unmount: not found
Where is the unmount command? All the docs I've looked at say it
should be there.
