I forgot...

I recomend you Fedora Core because of the new technology compatibility,
but if you want RedHat you can buy a product from them, you will be
paying for the support that they give you, but if you don't want the
support but you want a very stable version, I recomend you Centos
(www.centos.org) It's exactly the same as RedHat Enterprise Linux,
just with a different logo, if you have problems, the comunity is ready
to help you, they will give you a lot of advice.

to explain a little bit more, RedHat had a free version which was until
version 9 with an option to be supported from them, then they decided
to provide 2 versions Fedora and RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

They put everything new in Fedora for the comunity to try, when it
works "perfectly 100%" they put into RHEL, so, you have the newest free
software in Fedora. So RedHat Linux 9 is a bit out of date!!!

Joey,


Fedora Core is a better option. The Fedora Core project is more
up-to-date. LVM for example is not in Red Hat 9 (if I recall corectly).
Fedoara Core is also free of charge, and it supports much more new hardware.

I recommend chosing between FC 5 or FC 6.
