[root@yash ~]#

may also happen when you have wrong default gateway/route (e.g.:
your ip: 192.168.2.2, netmask 255.255.255.0
when you do route -n you see that you have
0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 (something) eth0

this wrong config may generate your error.
