It appears as though connecting via XDMCP creates a virtual desktop and
doesn't connect to the real X display.
I do not see what you are exactly looking (and since you have the solution already maybe not that it matters) but this is real X.
Exactly the same desktop that is in remote machine.
The cursor is not moving on the remote machine but it is the same desktop.
