how can I bakup the actual size of booting files on the usbdisk?

Hi, All
I often install centos(4.3) on some different boxes.
So I make a bootdisk for the installation on a usbdisk,
Then I can install the boxes automatically with kickstart function.
Now I want to bakup the usbdisk as a image file, I use dd like this
"dd if=/dev/sda of=./centboot.img".
But It bakup the whole /dev/sda partition as a image file
and the image size is the size of usbdisk(64M).
I find that all booting files's size is about 13M bytes.
And how can I bakup the actual size of booting files on the usbdisk?
