Hello Everyone,
I have a IBM Netfinity Server with ISA server with RAID 1(Hardware
RAID) enabled.
I am using IBM ServeRAID Raid Controller.
6 months before what i did was , I installed redhat linux 9 (I simply
overwrite it).Squid..
Everything is working fine...
Today one of my hard disk failed...I want to add one more hard disk..
Tell me the step by step procedures.
Once again i summarise :
Previous setup :
OS : Windows Server 2000
Application : ISA Server
Hardware : Raid Controller IBM Serve RAID
Existing Setup :
OS : Redhat Linux 9
Application : Squid
Hardware : I simply format the windows OS and I have installed Linux.
Needed :
OS : RedHat Linux 9
Application : SQUID
I have to add the new SCSI Hot Swappable hard disk and i have to check
the status of the new hard disk
It should be in RAID or standlone...no problem..
Thanks in Advance
What do you mean by add one more?
If you mean replacing, and are running hardware RAID on the ServeRAID it will repair it. (Assuming you have it configured to automatically rebuild.)
If you mean add a drive for the OS' use, not for the RAID, you have to use ServeRAID Manager to configure the drive. After that you would have to format it and add the drive to /etc/fstab. You cannot add it to the array, without doing a backup and restore of the system. (The second drive should be in an array, which would mean at least 2 drives. If you mean you want a hot spare added, again ServeRAID Manager is used for this. (If you don't have it, you can download it from IBM.)
RH9 is very old. squid will run on a much more modern OS.
