Hi All,
I'm a currently working on a project related to RHEL. I'm new to this

following questions. Any response will be really appreciated.

Thank you

What do you think about RHEL 5 beta 2

In general it is a good product. But not for a production environment, like all beta software.

What do you like and what don't you like in RHEL 5 Beta 2

The need of a valid subscription is something I do not like.

What do you think would be the key reasons for customers to use RHEL5

RHEL5 running XEN can become a cheaper alternitave to VMware ESX.

Is migrating from RHEL 4 to RHEL 5 straight forward or are there
issues, how about from RHEL 3 to RHEL 5

Yes and no:

- Yes, like upgrading from each RHELx to RHELy. The upgrade path is documented by Red Hat. Red Hat recommends: making a full backup of your non Red Hat software and data, and do an install of the Red Hat environment and restore the data and non Red Hat software. Be aware that some non Red Hat software might need to be reinstalled as a higher version.

- No, if you are not familiar with the upgrade path.

Are you seeing Red Hat doing anything different with RHEL 5 release

Information is not available yet, I do not expect an other policy.

Do you think people will upgrade to RHEL 5

I think they will, if they need the new functionality they will sooner than those who do not.

Who do you think is the main competition and who do you think will
win and why

Novell SuSe is the main compeditor. None will win, Linux seems to act like Unix. HP-UX and AIX live in "peace" with each other for about 20 years.
Customers or Vendor choice will today be SuSe and tomorrow Red Hat.
