I want to know if I download a new kernel from kernel.org
and compile it then would it work on different Linux distributions
wether they wont conflict with existing libraries
suppose I download a new kernel 2.6.20.4 and compile on Open Suse
10.2
and the same kernel is being compiled on Fedora Core 5 or above then
are these kernels depending upon the distribution of our choice or to
use a kernel for a distribution we need to go to some particular site
to download the kernel
I mean for Fedora and Suse the kernels would be different or same to
be downloaded
.
