I tried to recompile the kernel after I tried to enable ieee1394 with
make menuconfig and this is what I get:

Compile new modules ... went to build the hpfs kernel module.... Ran "make menuconfig" selected the ...CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h ... Do I need to start from a clean kernel source tree and build the modules ... (Fedora)
kernel compile error ... I was able to compile the 2.6 kernel once. ... But I found that I'd forgotten a few things and had to recompile.... make menuconfig... (Fedora)
