removing rpath with libtool and what is AC_LIB_RPATH?

Hi,
Trying to develope some software on redhat linux using gnu autotools
including libtool.
Is there a way to stop libtool from using that rpath? We are building
software that will be shipped and installed in an arbitrary location
at the customers location. We do not want rpath embedded in our
binaries or libraries.
Is there a way to do this?
Also, I see the autoconf macro AC_LIB_RPATH floating around in many
peoples acinclude.m4. WHere does this originally come from? Any one
know what it does, where I could get it? It seems to have some kind
of --disable-rpath option to it.
thanks for any info
