Has anyone used mdadm multipath and then had to switch to IBMsdd multipathing?

Dear Red Hat users,

We use mdadm multipathing on a RHEL 4U5 server, but due to support issues with IBM's SAN Volume Controller (SVC 4.1) need to switch to IBMsdd.

We use LVM on top of the SAN LUN's.

Can this be done 'on the fly'? I mean without rebuilding the volumegroups and logical volumes and a data restore?

Personally I am afraid that the device names of the physical volumes might change and am unsure what effect this has on the volumegroup information.

Kind regards,

Jan Gerrit Kootstra
