Hello.

Is your goal to boot into text mode or to try to figure out why GUI
becomes distorted? If you just want to boot into text, interrupt the
boot, get to single user mode and edit /etc/inittab to boot to
runlevel 3, instead of 5 (3 is full multi-user, 5 is X11 GUI).
